Whether you are interested in learning to be a teacher or to just deepen your practice this is the first stage of development where everybody starts.
Yoga Alliance along with the yoga community created the standard for the 200-hour yoga certification foundational-level.
All schools are different in their approach and style in their yoga classes with the basic curriculum requirements remaining the same.

Energy body works, the study of the chakras and nadis (energy channels).
Study of traditional texts revealing yoga philosophies.
The yoga lifestyle, the concepts of dharma and karma.
Practice teaching as the lead instructor without feedback.
Observing others doing the same and sharing feedback afterwards.
PLEASE NOTE - Since February 2020 Yoga Alliance set out new standards for the foundational RYS 200-hour training program, here we meet the new common core curriculum that applies to all registered yoga schools for certifying new yoga teachers.
Search for the experience that speaks to you, and the yoga style mix that you are interested in.
There are trainings in all style combinations and with different focus.
Hatha and/or Vinyasa is popular, Ashtanga and/or Vinyasa too.
You may be offered the opportunity to focus on a holistic discipline, like the Meditation or Therapeutic teacher trainings, which can include Ayurveda, Yoga Nidra, Kundalini Yoga, Tantra and Energy work.
A Training can, and usually does, include more than one yoga style.
Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga are the 3 most common yoga styles - however there are teaching practice opportunities in all of the yoga styles - there is the slower Restorative and/or Yin Yoga; and the hot systems of Bikram and Power Yoga; and different mixes of all these styles.
For precision and alignment there is Iyengar Yoga. Aerial Yoga too, a combination of Pilates, yoga and dance. Take your time to find the learning opportunity that is waiting for you. When you find it you will know.
There are so many different options these days.
Search out the one that speaks to your heart with a teaching philosophy you are attracted to.
Research their graduate reviews, their lead trainers, teaching philosophy, style and approach, this will help you understand if it's the right yoga school for your continuing education.
There are many places you can attend, near me or far away.
Often it is true that the school and teaching practice and class content you are interested in may not be near you.
But that's yoga, putting us exactly where we are meant to be.
Here are yogi's top destination choices for this first level of yoga education experience.
For those of us in the States domestic travel is easier and so staying in the USA can be more convenient.
An alternative travel opportunity is South America for a training of your choice.
If you are happy to fly further away then Asia is full of great spots to attend.
Bali, with its connection to spirit offers something special. The island is varied & beautiful with stunning beaches, paddy fields, mountains and volcanoes.
India can be a great place to start your journey, with many great yoga schools and spiritual places to complete your certification. With so many options Rishikesh offers a great variety in the content, focus and activities, being the yoga-hub mecca of Mother India.
Then there is Thailand, a great choice are the islands in the south where schools on the beaches offer you the opportunity to practice teaching yoga in open-air shalas with breathtaking views & vibes.

Best 200-Hour Teacher Training for 2021
Most of the yoga community agree that about a year is the right time although there is no correct answer here.
Most yoga schools generally ask for 6 months minimum, sometimes a year.
Use your time to try out different yoga styles and teachers so you know what you are looking for in your chosen program.
Yoga Alliance has set a standard that needs to be met by registered yoga schools.
Your attendance in all the classes and workshops included and involvement in the practical assessments completes your foundational-level program.
Most intensives take place over one month.
Each day the classes start early and go on until early evening. With rest breaks and lunch.
One day off a week for relaxing and to contemplate your progress so far.
Your practice and understanding will grow week by week.
The experience is an opportunity for transformation in so many ways.
There are 2 week trainings that you can enrol on if you would prefer not to spend more time, and you will find these options on our site; the amount of class hours required make it impossible to do any faster than this.
There is a whole range of pricing but the average worldwide is between 2,000-3,000US.
It can differ by country, season and venue.
