Inspired by the first sound of creation, OM, the resort in Gokarana on Om Beach is a perfect setting to enable one to hear the ‘voice of the inner self’.

SwaSwara goes beyond being a spa in the traditional sense. Neither is it an ashram. SwaSwara is a sanctuary for your Prakruti or the innermost nature of an individual - that special blend of qualities and features that grant it uniqueness! Its goal is to offer a life plan for the ‘reconstruction’ of mind and body to bring about balance and harmony within.

Situated a little away from the village of Gokarna, nestling amidst rolling hills and lined by serene coconut palms are 24 villas inspired by the traditional homesteads and crafts of the Uttara Karnataka region of the state. SwaSwara is not just an earthly destination. It is the gateway to a more profound place that abides within you. Get there and you will meet both.

Food

Much thought goes into the ingredients and cooking at the SwaSwara kitchen. You'll find no refined sugar, wheat, processed foods, dairy items or conventional additives in any of the meals. SwaSwara instead, offers healthy, gourmet cuisine which includes fresh organic vegetables and fresh sea fish. Its fresh produce comes from their very own organic vegetable farm or in the surrounding local villages. The fish they serve is freshly caught everyday as Swaswara believes that the freshness of the ingredients impact greatly on your health. There will also be herbal teas and fresh fruits made available for you when you get up in the mornings. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to cook with the chefs in order for you to gain the ability to prepare your own healthy meals and improve your food habits. You will be given recipes to try so that you can enjoy these dishes in the comfort of your home. For the retreat, your meals and dishes will be guided by your dosha and special requirements, this will be organised upon your arrival.

Situated on the coast of Karwar, Gokarna is a small town in Karnataka, primarily known for two reasons - its beaches and temples. Gokarna can be different things to different people. Every year hordes of tourists visit Gokarna in search of sanctity and salvation on one hand, respite and relaxation on the other. The out-of-town beaches are a curious contrast to the life inside the town. Palm clad beaches are dotted with foreign tourists in majority and very few Indians are seen across. Gokarna is not very conventionally touristy. The beaches are meant for a slow, relaxed holiday and everything on the beach goes at the same relaxed pace. Full of coconut and palm trees, the ocean and clean sands, Gokarna is a "one of its kind place" in the country.

The nearest airport is at Dabolim, Goa. Ankola (20km away) is the nearest railway station for most trains but certain trains like the Matsyagandha Express halt at Gokarna itself. Bus services are also available from Bangalore and Goa.
