This teacher training offers students in-depth skills to explore Yoga as a vehicle for vibrant health, self transformation, and personal empowerment.

The curriculum includes a unique blend of alignment based vinyasa flow, a solid foundation in Hatha Yoga and 200 hours of instruction offered within a therapeutic framework. 

The instruction will cover a wide range of yoga techniques including yoga postures, anatomy, relaxation, breath awareness, pranayama, meditations to calm the mind, contemplation to transform limiting tendencies into life-affirming thought patterns, and the application of clear principles of alignment to create safety, balance and freedom in yoga poses. 

You will explore concepts from Ayurveda, the Upanishads, Patanjali and the Chakra System as frameworks for the application of yoga as a journey towards radiant health and wellbeing. 

The asana emphasis includes both level one/two alignment-based vinyasa flow sequencing as well as gentler and restorative variations. Expect to practice asana from all category of poses including standing poses, hip openers, forward bends, backward bends, twists, inversions, balancing, supine, seated and prone. Modifications for all levels of practitioners are provided and all levels of abilities are welcome to attend.

Rather than offer standard sequencing or rigid methodologies, students are exposed to frameworks that inspire each yoga teacher to adopt the practices, awaken their creativity and find their own authentic voice as a teacher.

Graduates of this program feel empowered to teach a variety of yoga class types, including all levels vinyasa yoga, alignment-based classes, yoga foundations, senior, gentle, and restorative.

Certification

This program is approved with Yoga Alliance and graduates are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level (RYT-200) This qualification allows you to teach globally.

Let nature be your mirror as you discover Hawaii's spectacular interplay of elements: lava fire, pristine waters, abundant gardens, cultural heritage sites, tall mountains, and cool, scented tropical breezes. Take in the stunning natural grounds of Kalani or treat yourself to a the massages and wellness treatments on offer in the resort.

Food

The garden-side dining area opens onto fragrant plantings. Here you will enjoy organic farm-to-table cuisine. The organic gardens and orchards are a living tribute to the Big Island's bounty of exotic vegetables and fruits. Hawaiian spa cuisine is rich with local accents, whole-grain breads and Pacific Rim dishes. The chefs here are brilliant in the kitchen. When they are not out gathering herbs for a dish, they are about the region sampling local dishes for new menu ideas.

Three meals a day will be provided aside from dinner the night before the day off and lunch and dinner on the day off. Students typically explore local restaurants for these meals and the kitchen staff takes a well needed rest.

Shared Hut at Hawaii Island Retreat Center

Shared Hut

Bungalows are 225 square foot rooms with high, slanted ceilings and tall screened windows that lend these inviting dwellings a cozy and free environment. Each Bungalow room can accommodate up to two guests; each room contains one queen bed and one twin bed, private bath, mini fridge and overlook pastoral or jungle vistas.

The eco-boutique hotel offers a choice of elegant bungalows, suites and yurts. The suites are color matched and named for the large, antique Saxon prints of tropical flowers. Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate shower. These spacious suites are 375 - 450 square feet and decorated with turn-of -the-century-Hawaii furniture.
All suites have private balconies and chairs, overlooking the fragrant garden as well as ocean.
