Learn about the history and principles of Ayurveda. You will also delve into the six types of tastes and how they’re related to body constitutions. Finally, you will discover how to prepare Ayurvedic meals according to different body constitutions. The basic concept of Panchakarma and massage therapy will also be covered.

Learn the core principles of the Hatha Yoga & Ashtanga Vinyasa Series and master the steps to do your asanas confidently - from the traditional sun salutations to detailed structuring of different postures. You will also attend workshops on the art of alignment and adjustment.

Let your body and mind fully relax! You’ll be focusing on both full body relaxation techniques and emotional body relaxation. You’ll also learn about many different ways to meditate, from chakra and mantra meditation to walking meditation, just to name a few! Yoga Nidra is also offered to remove mental pressure and ease your sleeping.

It all starts with breathing. You will find out all about the importance of yogic breathing, the science behind it, and how it can lessen stress levels and achieve emotional purification.

Awaken energy by learning all about the yogic gestures. Not only will you learn about external gestures like the eye and finger mudras, but also about the importance of internal gestures.

An extensive overview about the history and origin of yoga, letting you explore many different types of yoga. Expand your knowledge about the relationship between mind and body. This also serves as your introduction to Ayurvedic science as well as yogic terms and definitions.

Learn how to create positive vibration and energy through mantras. Find out all about OM and the importance of tantras and mantras for energy, wisdom, and fearless leaving.

Learn how to practice safely and understand the physiology of asanas and pranayamas. Discover how yoga can help with common disease such as colds and migraines, as well diabetes, thyroid issues, obesity and back problems.

Certification

Upon successful completion, students will receive a 200-hour Ashtanga and Hatha Teacher Certification accredited by Yoga Alliance. This will allow you to teach globally.

On a backwater tour, one can actually enjoy the soothing sound of water rippling alongside the houseboat, while drifting on the waterways. The green countryside, swaying palm trees, emerald rice fields and children waving from the banks of the backwaters of Kerala - all these will leave a sense of tranquility in you. Food

All meals follow your yoga regime, complementing the requirements of Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha yoga. As Kerala is known for its natural herbs, you will be eating highly nutritious, top-quality, vegetarian food during your course at Akshi Yogashala.

A note on local cuisine: local food is traditionally served on a banana leaf and many dishes add coconut, spices and tamarind for flavour. Dishes range from simple "kanji" (rice gruel) to extravagant feasts or "sadyas". Don’t leave without tasting the dosa with kerala style sambhar. The dosa is a crepe made from rice batter and lentils and then roasted until crispy in pure ghee. Combined with the local sambhar, a lentil-based vegetable stew, it’s simply heavenly!​

Kerala is overflowing with cultural love and closeness to tradition. Beautiful temples, historical monuments, indian festivals; there’s festivity around every corner. 

Kovalam, once a calm fishing village is today a bustling beach town, home to resorts, ayurvedic treatments and yoga courses. Kovalam is famous for its beaches, among the most pristine in India. Kovalam is extremely popular among westerners due to shallow waters and low tidal waves. It is also one of the oldest tourist enclave in India, which known among tourist circuit right in 1930s. Kovalam shot into limelight in the early seventies with arrivals of the masses of hippies. That started the transformation of a casual fishing village of Kerala into one of the most important tourist destinations in all India- the Kovalam beach.

Kovalam is about 16 km (20 minutes in a taxi) from Trivandrum. Trivandrum has its own international airport and bus/train connections.
