Have a firm grasp of, and an excitement to go deeper into, the use of anatomy and physiology in yoga.

Study the breath in all its beauty, fluctuations, and variations and prescribe different breathing techniques for different effects.

Understand the art and value of contemplation and be able to lead others in the same from direct experience.

Grasp the foundations and supporting energies of yoga, with emphasis on Tantra, the Yoga Sutras, Ayurveda, ethics, and the business of yoga.

Food

All meals will be catered to you throughout the training and you can expect delicious, healthy, highly nourishing cuisine. The core of the diet is lots of raw food, plenty of protein and healthy fats, minimal processing, lots of fruit, veggies especially greens, whole grains, minimal dairy and meat, and no junk food! They also use no white sugar and very little wheat, to suit people with sensitivities. 

The resort is dedicated to using organic produce whenever possible, and are constantly seeking out new sources of organic foods in Costa Rica. Some are grown locally and some are brought from other parts of Costa Rica, especially the higher altitudes where foods will grow organically that can’t survive the beach climate.

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

Yoga Alliance requires 180 “contact hours” to earn a 200hr certificate, as well as 20 hours of non-contact work(reading, assignments, etc.) Your training will be short, intense, and powerful! 

You will only take two days off in the entire training and you will probably spend it on assignments or resting in a hammock.

By the time you graduate, you will have fulfilled all of the requirements as follows:

10 hrs Anatomy and Physiology
24 hrs Ethics and Philosophy
10 hrs Practicum

Certification

You are required to pass all the assignments and to attend to all of the classes of the whole training. There are also materials and books that you have to study all throughout the YTT. This teacher training is 140 hours of contact hours. Yoga Alliance requires 120 “contact hours” with the teacher, to get a 200hr certificate. The 80 hours can be done by the student in their own time. You will need to “prove” that you’ve done this, in order to get awarded a certificate. This requires that you have practiced yoga for at least 40 hours before attending the YTT. Upon completion of the course students will receive a certification, which will enable them to apply to become a Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher.

While it might take a bit more time to reach Anamaya than other locations, this stunning region of the Nicoya Peninsula is a tropical paradise worth the journey.
