Location

Bali, Indonesia

Amed is a long stretch coastal strip of fishing villages in East Bali. It is an area developing for tourism while holding on to tradition. This village is slowly becoming known a travellers hub for free diving, scuba diving, yoga and yoga teacher trainings.

The pace of life here in Amed is slow and the coastal scenery quite stunning making it the perfect place for a relaxed holiday in Bali. There is quite coarse black volcanic sand at Amed village beach. As you move further east (and away from Mount Agung), the beaches have softer sand and become more of a mid grey-brown in colour. The prettiest bays are probably those at Jemeluk and Lipah but the whole stretch of coastline is very attractive.

Amed lies on the north-eastern tip of Bali, about three hours drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. A taxi service to Amed is available outside airport. It can be easily accessed by turning east at the village of Culik which lies on the main east coast road from Karangasem to Singaraja.

Shuttle buses regularly serve the destination from Candidasa and Lovina and now that the road has been greatly improved, they take you all the way into Amed (previously all buses stopped at Culik and motorbikes ferried visitors into Amed).

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

The team uses Patanjali’s Eight-Fold Path (Ashtanga Yoga) as their guide in how they teach the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual benefits that are accessible through daily practice. The program includes asana (postures), meditation, pranayama (breath work) mantra (chanting of Sanskrit) as well as the study of yoga philosophy.

The Sadhana Vinyasa Flow is the yoga of spiritual practice based on the Ashtanga vinyasa tradition. Each pose is typically held between five to ten breaths followed by a breath-controlled vinyasa leading to the next pose. In this sequence you move with fluidity, buoyancy, strength, and vigor.

The Sadhana Hatha Flow is the yoga of spiritual practice based on the classic Sivananda tradition. After Sun Salutations warm-ups, postures are held for a space of time. By integrating breath and intention, each pose becomes a pose of meditation.

Kampung Amed Villa, Venue for 21 Day 200Hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training

Tucked away on Bali’s far east coast in Amed, the Kampung provides private beachfront accommodation with old world charm in a stunning natural environment. With rugged mountains forming the background and a tranquil sea in front it is an ideal place to relax while exploring this remarkable area.

The Kampung offers fully serviced private bedroom compounds each with their own private living/dining area and swimming pool. Antique village houses from Java are used through out for bedrooms and other structures. These are traditional teak wood village houses and all are original antiques that have been carefully restored and only slightly modified to be more user friendly. The hand hewn wood beams and intricate carving used in these homes are the work of village craftsmen from a bygone era.

The Amed area is a great place to experience Bali’s natural beauty and culture and is a well know destination for some of the best snorkeling and diving on the island. You can swim and snorkel directly off the beach in front of the Kampung and diving is easily arranged nearby. Amed and East Bali are home to some of Bali’s oldest villages with ancient temples, rituals, and music. The Kampung is happy to help you arrange cultural interaction with the local village as well as trips to other villages.
