This is your first step towards becoming an effective and certified yoga teacher. The course approach is to incorporate all those elements that can help each individual trainee teacher maximise their potential.


The comprehensive course will familiarize you with the tenets of yoga philosophy and history, will help you intensify and master yoga asanas in tandem with their effect on anatomy. 


You will observe daily pranayama and meditation along with chanting so you understand their strengthening and balancing properties. 


This training will bring you an understanding of yogic discipline, diet and cleansing rituals and you will be taught how to go about becoming a good yoga teacher.

Meet The Facilitators

 

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

The first part of your teacher training will dwell on the introduction of yoga. You will discuss its meaning and definitions from various authentic scriptures, as well as the difference between exercise and yoga. You will also have a brief introduction to yoga and sakhya philosophy. Ashtanga yoga (mainly yama, niyama, asana, and pranayama), human anatomy, physiology, teaching methodology, and class management will also be discussed. This retreat will teach you how to learn yoga instead of how to teach it.

During your first week, you will work on loosening practices, foundations of standing and sitting asanas, introduction and practice of breathing exercises or pranayama, and guided meditation. Your second week will be focused on the proper alignment of your asanas, intensifying pranayama practices and emphasis on personal practice. By the third week, you will practice alignment and modifications in various asanas and the teaching aspect. On your last week, you will then work on group teaching and intensifying your personal practice.

Certification

The assessments will be based written and practical evaluation. Student conduct will be a part of the assessment criterion. Evaluation will be carried out only for those students who have a minimum of 90% attendance. Upon successful completion of the teacher training, you will have a Yoga Alliance certificate that allows you to teach around the world.

Samatva Yogalaya, Rishikesh offers yoga programs in India which include yoga for beginners, yoga retreats and yoga teacher training. After completion of the Yoga Alliance teacher training courses and receiving the certification, learners become eligible to register as yoga teachers (RYT 200, E-ETR 200, RYT 500 or E-RYT 500) with Yoga Alliance and teach yoga anywhere in the world.
