Zen Spirit Yoga Resort, Venue for 18 Day 200Hr Therapeutic Yoga Training in Costa Rica

Breaking ground on a small hill top overlooking the pristine beach of Costa de Oro, Zen Spirit Yoga Resort strives to provide the perfect environment for retreats, workshops and training. Because Zen Spirit specializes in wellness and yoga retreats, they built this project with sustainable and bioclimatic principles in mind. The resort is beautifully designed and surrounded by lush medicinal tropical gardens. As a result guests are provided with tranquil and healing Zen atmosphere, rhythm by the sound of the waves and the ebb and flow of the tides.

Zen Spirit is just a few kilometers away from Cabo blanco National Park, Karen Mogensen Nature Reserve, Caletas Ario wildlife refuge. Therefore, while visiting the tropical eco-resort you are likely to spot some of Costa Rica’s shyest and most endangered tropical dry forest inhabitants, like the black howler monkey, the white headed capuchin, tropical deer, macaws, eagles as well as sea turtles.

The team guarantees their guests a true retreat experience that allows them to reconnect with their inner self. Because the resort is set on a wonderful long flat gold sandy beach interrupted by river estuaries, you can enjoy world-class surfing as well as kayaking and bird watching in the mangrove, horseback riding and hiking to waterfalls, star gazing into the dark sky and much more. In short it is a nature lover paradise.

The most direct route is via the airport in Liberia (LIR). The resort will pick you up from, and return you to, the airport at no additional cost. There is also an option to fly into the airport in San Jose (SJO). Flights can be less expensive in and out of SJO, however it is 4-5 hours from the resort and you will have to arrange your own transportation. There is, however, a commuter flight between Tamarindo, where the resort will pick you up at no additional cost.

Costa Rican cuisine is healthy and simply delicious, with a focus on staples such as beans, rice, and fresh vegetables. Savor a variety of options, from gallo pinto, arroz con pollo, and fresh tropical fruit, including mango, papaya, pineapple, coconut, guava, banana, avocado, tamarind, guanabana, and passion fruit.

Enjoy three delicious meals a day included in your training. At Zen Spirit, the cuisine is delicious, healthy, locally sourced and organic when possible. Most of the fruits and vegetables are organically produce on the Zen Spirit’s farm.  When purchasing outside of the estate, the chefs always privilege local organic products. For instance, the chicken is raised naturally and the fish is provided by local fishermen. Therefore, by buying locally Zen Spirit is helping the community. In brief, it is a truly farm to table experience. Vegan and gluten-free alternatives are offered and students who have special dietary requirements are encouraged to let us know in advance.

Soak up the beautiful energy of this serene environment while you deepen your practice and learn from inspiring and masterful teachers. You are are sure to leave this training feeling empowered both within your own self and practice, and your ability to share you love of yoga with your own students and community. Prepare for a life-changing experience!

  Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica

Playa Coyote is among the many beautiful and remote beaches that sit off the western coast of the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste province. Lying on the pristine shores of the Pacific, and in between Playa Samara and Playa Manzanillo, this beach is actually quite isolated as most roads leading here are dirt tracks that are very rough and practically impassable when it rains.

Divided by the Rio Jabillo and a mangrove estuary, to get from the northern to the southern end of the beach you have to travel back up to San Francisco de Coyote and then back down again to the beach. The waters here are perfect for swimming as the tide remains low most of the time. However, further south near Punta Coyote, the swells are good enough to surf. Many Tico families often come here for a picnic as there is a good restaurant on the beachfront that has camping services and excellent seafood. Most people who stay in Playa Coyote usually camp out on the beach. On the other hand, for those who prefer a comfortable bed, San Francisco de Coyote has a few hotels, rooms and cabinas to stay at.

The best way to reach this stunning beach is to catch a domestic flight from the capital San Jose to the airports of Samara or Islita, and then drive out to Playa Coyote via the village of San Francisco de Coyote, which is around four kilometers from the beach.
