With astounding natural beauty, warm water temperatures and incredible wildlife, this training is a unique opportunity for those called to both the ancient sacred practices of yoga and the art of surfing. Non-surfing nature lovers, or beginner to expert surfers, can all equally benefit from this seamless, blending of two flow based spiritual practices. You will be entering just after peak season of Costa Rica where the weather will be warm and dry. Slip away to one of the most desirable and biodiverse landscapes on earth. Breathe in the beauty of nature and purity of increased oxygen from the rainforest. Delight in the flowers, the birds, the monkeys and the beauty of your own soul!

The training site is a dream come true for those looking to experience the wonders of nature, tranquility- a perfectly tucked away location for panoramic viewing and deep contemplation. In addition to the standard Spiritual, Shamanic Yoga curriculum, this training will have daily opportunities to learn and deepen your surfing practice.

Derived from different yoga traditions, such as Ashtanga Vinyasa, Sivananda and Iyengar, you will engage in Mystical Yoga, which is, the yoga of spiritual practice. It is designed beyond form and tradition and aims to encompass the essence of yoga and spirituality as a practice of union.

The Institute’s core curriculum crosses continents to provide guidance from Native American Shamanic practice. Through the training, you are guided by the Peruvian medicine wheel, helping you to transform and reveal your true nature. In order to teach yoga, we must allow ourselves to be clear channels. Thus, you are guided and encouraged on your personal journey to uncover a deeper connection to the source. Step into the beauty and the ancient wisdom of Yoga, claim the innate healing gifts of shamanism, and embrace the role of teacher or attuned practitioner.

Experience the journey of spirituality, the wonder of Stand Up Paddleboarding and glide with ease as you practice the art of surfing. This is a truly unique, special, transformative and memorable journey.

The course is open to people of all yoga abilities. It is simply asked that participants set an intention to devote their time and energy to the process of becoming.   Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

Imagine a sea that radiates with wildlife and is almost perfect when it comes to shape, color and temperature. Located on the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, Mal Pais offers tasty waves, creative kitchens and surfers galore. This surfing zone is known for its year round consistent waves, with the average swell running in the 3-5 foot range, breaking over beautiful sandy beaches.

Mal Pais has become one of Costa Rica's most life-affirming destinations full of Surf, SUP, and Yoga classes. The quiet surf village of Mal Pais provides a great opportunity for visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of more crowded destinations. It is an excellent place to enjoy the incredible natural surroundings in relative peace. Reflecting this relaxed attitude, the village of Mal Pais offers relatively few services with regards to tours. However, canopy tours are available and one can also take horseback rides along the beach.

Alternating between long stretches of sand and large patches of rock, the Mal Pais beach divides the ocean and the green jungle full of mischievous monkeys. The entire area unfurls along one coastal road that rambles from Santa Teresa in the north to Playa El Carmen, the area's commercial heartbeat, and then terminates in the quiet village of Mal País.

Juan Santa Maria International airport, in San Jose, is a 75-minute trip by land along the Pacific Coast to the Puntarenas ferry dock. From there, a 1.5-hour crossing of the Gulf of Nicoya to Paquera is meant to be a peaceful journey. Once you’ve soothed your soul with ocean breeze travel, you will need to journey through land again for 1.5 hours, passing through Tambor and Cobano, before arriving at your remote destination of Mal Pais. Flights from San Jose to Tambor are also available and are a short 40min drive from Tambor to Mal Pais.
