Playa Negra is a beautiful dark-sand beach famous in the surfing community, the beach sits along the northwestern region of Guanacaste along the northern Pacific coast. 

This small beach community has more to offer than just its surfing breaks. Great cafes and local delicacies, Playa Negra has a little something for offer everybody. 

Enjoy the laid-back Tico lifestyle while escaping the hustle of other surf-centric communities along the Pacific Coast.

Anyone will enjoy the pristine conditions and remote landscape of Playa Negra. The black-sand shoreline is surrounded by rocky borders that make ideal conditions for small tide pools. Although much of the water isn't ideal for swimming, there are small protected areas to the south of the beach for swimming.

It's possible to take a domestic flight from the San Jose International Airport to the Tamarindo domestic airport, which is only about 35 minutes from Playa Negra. The travel time from the international airport in Liberia is about one hour and 45 minutes.

The venue specializes in Peruvian food, with a menu of over 30 dishes that mixes Peruvian and Costa Rican tastes, creating what they call Pura Vida Fusion Cuisine. Fresh local fish is often on the menu and the cafe is also well-known for our daily fresh baked desserts!

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

This in-depth, immersive training will guide you through a range of topics to prepare you to be an effective teacher. These include functional anatomy and physiology, kinesiology of asana, observing bodies in motion, the history of yoga, introduction to yogic philosophy, the art of tough conversations and better communication, inter-personal skills, art of hands on adjustments and SAFE assists, art of demonstration, effective use of language in teaching, teaching from the heart, mythic consciousness and theming, introduction to Ayurveda, leading Meditation, leading Pranayama, intelligent sequencing (Vinyasa Krama, Mantra, the business of yoga, anatomy of the subtle body and sanskrit.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program trainees are eligible to register 200 training hours with Yoga Alliance. This certification enables students to teach yoga globally.

The rooms are comfortable and homely to ensure you enjoy your stay. All six rooms have high ceilings, fans, and large windows that make them airy and well lit. They all have a private bathroom, good water pressure, hot water and air conditioning. This room has 2-4 single beds to share with like minded guests.

Cafe Playa Negra, Venue for 16 Day 200hr Inspired Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training

At Cafe Playa Negra you will experience abundant nature, perfect waves, great food, warm sand and sunshine! The vision is to create an inviting and friendly environment, offering a unique space to share the natural beauty of this area. The venue has six rooms with high ceilings, fans, and large windows that make them airy and well lit. They all have a private bathroom, good water pressure, hot water and air conditioning. Outside of the rooms you will find the favourite hang out spot, which is a large terrace with comfy couches; a place to relax, read or go on line via Wi-Fi. If it is a hot day, enjoy an ice cold drink at the swimming pool. The hotel has been built with special touches, by adding rocks, seashells, wood, and plants from various beaches of Costa Rica. It is decorated with arts and crafts from Central and South America and it can be best described as a rustic and cozy setting with an artistic touch. There is an onsite restaurant that specializes in Peruvian food, with a menu of over 30 dishes that mixes Peruvian and Costa Rican tastes, creating Pura Vida Fusion Cuisine. There is an onsite spa as well as the option for surfing courses and lessons, plus plenty of adventures and tours around this beautiful part of the country.

​Playa Negra is located in the province of Guanacaste, in the Pacific North West of Costa Rica. Cafe Playa Negra is 30 minutes south from Tamarindo, and 60 minutes from Liberia International Airport. The easiest and most flexible way to get here is by renting a car. Roads are generally in good condition and getting better every year. If you do take the public bus, come through the town of Junquillal.
