This is a 2-hour Yin Yoga practice and will take place on alternate days of your 200 hr Yin Yoga Course Goa. You will be guided through different sequences, allowing you to fully connect with the key principles of Yin Yoga. These principles include tension and compression; the dispersion of Qi or energy; relaxation. Yin Yoga is a passive practice and postures are held for 3 to 5 minutes. The Yin Yoga practice works to create space within the body by stressing the fascia. The meridian system of Daoism will be referenced along with myofascial connections.

In terms of teaching Vinyasa Flow, the complimentary practice to Yin Yoga, you will learn the anatomy and alignment of key postures found in modern day yoga beyond India. Your 200 hr Yin Yoga Course in Goa includes the following workshops: Chaturanga, Sun Salutations, Standing and Balance Postures, Backbending and Spinal Twists.

This will take place every morning after Yin Yoga or Vinyasa Flow practice. You will learn a range of techniques that will allow you to access a range of meditation techniques. Meditation techniques will include breathwork, visualisations, chanting and more.

Classical Yoga Philosophy is interwoven throughout the program and you will be introduced to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, allowing you to make your own comparisons of classical and contemporary yoga, posing the question, ‘What is Yoga?’ These sessions are a great time for philosophical debate and indeed provided a welcome insight into the views of your fellow students. Each yoga class will have an intention with a spiritual message that will allow you to understand how we can incorporate philosophy into practice.

Scheduled activities will take place after dinner and will include: Moonlight Flow, Bedtime Yin Yoga, Yoga Movies, Beach Bonfires, Local Festivals, Sunset Drumming and Ecstatic Dance.

On alternate days of the course, you will practice Vinyasa Flow. Your teacher will take you on a journey of strength and flexibility to reach a peak posture. Flows are taught in terms of Hip Opening, Back Bending or Strength. You will be guided through dynamic sequences using effective alignment cues, interlaced with intention. Popular Vinyasa Flows include Bird of Paradise, Hanumanasana, Urdhva Dhanurasana and Eka Pada Koundinyasana 2. These Vinyasa Flow Classes are set to provide both a physical and emotional challenge to your yang practice.

In this session, you will break down the alignment of each of the postures, looking at variations and modifications (easier versions of a posture.) You will study the Meridian System from Chinese Medicine and how this plays a key part in the practice of Yin Yoga. There are 12 meridian lines including the Kidney and Urinary Bladder Lines; Heart and Spleen Lines. From a contemporary perspective, you will look at how the Qi energy runs through the myofascial connections.
