HOURS + TOPICS

In this course, you will study the rich and fascinating history of Yoga in India, as well as read, contemplate and write about Yogic philosophy. We also consider how Yoga can be applied to our daily lifestyles. There are lively daily discussions on the “Eight Limbs of Yoga” from the Yoga Sutras.

Twice a day, there is Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Practice with the primary teacher who is assisted by a co-teacher/assistant. Every student receives personalized help with their practice when needed. There are also opportunities during the course for students to receive individualized coaching/tutoring with specific poses to progress their own practice.

During the course you will regularly do Active Meditations which impact the deepest levels of our being and different dimensions of our awareness.

During the course you will learn all the Sanskrit names for the poses studied as well as the Sanskrit names for philosophical concepts. Because you learn a few new words every day, we review the Sanskrit on a daily basis. By the end of the course you will be surprised by how much Sanskrit you have learned!

This course has a comprehensive Anatomy & Physiology section, which students find fun and engaging. It is easier to practice and teach Yoga Asanas when one understands the human musculoskeletal system. We teach applied anatomy, so that you will understand how to use it wisely and systematically in your teaching.

You will practice different Pranayamas or breathing techniques every day and learn how to teach them safely and effectively.

Kriyas are cleansing exercises that purify the body and mind. They include Mulha Bandhas, Uddiyana Bandha, Jalandhara Bandha, and Naulis. Mudras are described as hand positions. Each area of the hand has a reflex reaction in a specific part of the brain. Together with the Bhandhas, Mudras redirect the energy flow, linking the individual’s pranic energy with universal force.

Yoganidra takes you into deep relaxation guided by the teacher. It releases the tension from the body and mind. Thirty minutes of Yoganidra is equivalent to three hours of sleep. Shatkarmas refer to the theory and practice of body cleansing methods.

There will be a two-hour interactive workshop on how to go about finding work as a Yoga Teacher and how to promote and market yourself in the growing industry of yoga.

Not only will you be learning about a traditional Yogic Diet--- ''Sattvic-aahar''—but you will be eating a well-balanced and nutritious “Sattvic” diet yourself. We pride ourselves in the quality and deliciousness of the food we provide on this course. Get super healthy while delighting your palette!

Certification

The course is officially recognized by Yoga Alliance. After completing the program, you will be awarded with a 200hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) Certificate.
