This 200 hour Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Course in Varkala works on all levels of the mind, body and spirit. You will not only improve your strength and flexibility but your whole being will be rejuvenated. Great knowledge, ancient wisdom, and compassion will form the solid foundation from which your inner teacher shall blossom.

Whether you plan to teach yoga professionally or simply deepen your own personal practice, this 200hr yoga teacher training program in India will give you the perfect foundation from which your skills will develop. The school maintains small class sizes and limits the number of students to fifteen to ensure everyone receives the highest standards of quality instruction and the one on one attention they rightfully deserve.


The team has created a nurturing and holistic environment where students can come to practice, to learn, to teach, and to ultimately begin the journey inward. You will learn to how to practice and teach fundamental Hatha postures, learning modifications, adjustments, and will learn how and when to use props. You will develop a deep awareness and mindfulness towards yourself and others. You will then be able to teach others how yoga can be incorporated into any healing process. You will practice yogic techniques that will greatly improve your wellbeing so your yoga teacher training experience becomes a complete self-inquiry. Throughout your studies you will practice traditional hatha yoga asana and the ashtanga vinyasa primary series. Hatha yoga teacher training classes will be slower paced with an emphasis on alignment principles, hands-on adjustments and teaching proper verbal cueing.

The ashtanga vinyasa teacher training classes will be taught in the traditional method as taught by Pattabhi Jois. Students will be introduced to one posture at a time and will slowly progress through the series over the course of the month. Student will master each individual posture, thus, allowing a proper opening of the body and the required mental and physical preparation for the subsequent postures. This makes the practice available to everyone, meditative in nature, and also ensures students will not injure themselves.

Students will have ample opportunity to assist the lead teachers in class, to develop their personal teaching styles, create their own sequences, and teach their very own classes. The loving, nurturing environment is the perfect place to become creative and artistic, to explore, to blossom, and to gain the confidence needed to share this path with others. The tuition fee includes accommodation, all required textbooks, manuals and supplies.

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

Includes the study of all hatha yoga postures with modifications for various levels, how to appropriately use props, correct physical alignment, physical and subtle energetic benefits of postures, hands on adjustments, the art of sequencing, how to give clear instructions and verbal cues, how to demonstrate asanas, teaching to special groups such as seniors, children, prenatal yoga and the ethics of a yoga teacher.

Students will learn to guide others through a variety of meditation techniques.

Learn to teach powerful breath (pranayama) techniques and learn how to apply bandhas.

Truly learn and understand the physical effects yoga has on the body and learn how to avoid injury in more prone areas and how to work with common injuries.

Learn the subtle energetic effects of yoga on the body, what is prana and what techniques can be used to direct prana throughout the body, Kundalini energy, the chakra system, the values and the nadis.

Key influential texts will be studied and students will learn how to apply this ancient wisdom for the betterment of their daily lives. Some of the texts that will be explored include; The Vedas, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipaka, and The Upanishads.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of natural medicine and healing that enhances the well-being of the body, mind and spirit.

Certification

This training is approved by Yoga Alliance. Upon full completion of the course you will become certified at the 200 hour level and be able to register with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT 200 (Registered Yoga Teacher 200hrs) This certification allows you to teach globally.

TIME OFF Varkala is a calm and peaceful town which runs alongside the Arabian Sea. While many tourists visit annually, it is still one of south India’s best kept secrets. There are many beautiful places to explore and visit while staying in Varkala such as long, unspoiled white sand beaches, a 2000-year-old Vishnu Temple and the Ashram - Sivagiri Mutt which is located a short distance from the beach, and the nearby backwaters of Kerala. The Papanasam beach (also called as Varkala beach), is renowned for its powdery sand and the tall red laterite cliffs from which a natural spring of water flows. The nearby temple, 2000-year-old Janardhanaswamy Temple attracts thousands of devotees annually during the Sivagiri Pilgrimage days.

Suddha Anand Yogshala has relocated and is now located in the heart of North Cliff Beach Area. The new residence is home to their 200 & 300 hour yoga teacher training programs and is located in a peaceful, quiet part of Varkala, yet only 2 minutes’ walk to the beach, restaurants, cafes, shops, and attractions. The property is tucked away in a quiet residential area making it an ideal place for study, practice, meditation, and sadhana.

The shala also offers pranayama, meditation, vinyasa flow intensives, and weekly yoga retreats during select months. These shorter programs are available for those who wish to immerse themselves in the practices of yoga, however, would not like to commit to a month-long program.

The nearest Airport to Varkala is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and it is located approximately 45 KM distance. This is such a charming airport. It is very small with only 3 arrival gates, yet flights connect to many major Indian cities in India and other international destinations such as the middle east. The staff is very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. The airport has a peaceful atmosphere for those travelers arriving from international ports. 

Thiruvananthapuram airport to Varkala by car is a very convenient option for travelers and students. It's a lovely scenic drive which takes only 45 minutes so a pleasure after a long flight. The cost for the drive is only 1500INR and the school will be happy to help arrange a driver for you in advance.
Varkala is also well connected with state buses. A bus journey may take about 1 hour depending on the traffic. You can ask for details at the airport upon a cost-effective also a very cost effective and convenient way to travel to Varkala.

Meals are not included in the training, however the school is very close to many cafes and restaurants that serve a great range of meals to suit all tastes and budgets. From healthy juice shacks to traditional Indian fare, you will have the choice to nurture your body and palate as you please!
