Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Famous for its annual music events and being home to the Cola De Ballena- whale’s tail, Playa Uvita is among the most stunning beaches on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast. Located in the southern Puntarenas province about 16km south of Dominical, a major surfing hotspot, Playa Uvita is nestled within the Marino Ballena National Park.

The famous Ballena Marine National Park is famous for sightings of the Humpback Whales that migrate here to mate. The pristine beaches here are rarely crowded and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sun-bathing. You can also visit the waterfalls. To go there, just walk north of the main road past Tucan Hotel, turn left after the cemetery, and walk up a large hill. There will be signs all along the way reading "Cataratas" or "Waterfalls".
