Sierraville is at the Southern end of the huge Sierra Valley at the junction of California State Route 49 and California State Route 89. It is best known for its incredible natural hot Springs, laid back community and exquisite nature.

California's border to the west is made up of a rugged coastline along the Pacific Ocean. The coastal mountains rise up from the ocean and are home to redwood trees in the northern half. The Central Valley bisects California from north-to-south before giving way to the Sierra Nevada mountains, home of Yosemite National Park, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and other natural wonders.

Camping at Sierra Hot Springs

Camping

Camping can be an affordable alternative to indoor lodging. Reservations are not required, however they are suggesting that the guests should arrive in daylight hours to avoid disturbance of neighbors. Campers have full use of the facilities, including the trails, pools, showers, guest kitchen, guest refrigerators, etc. You may also attend any of the many free guest events, or take advantage of massages, meals or other services offered at additional cost. Campers must also bring their own tents, flashlights and due to fire danger, camp stoves or fires are not allowed.

The historic Main Lodge houses five comfortable shared bath private rooms, as well as a five-bed dormitory. The Lodge, originally built in the 1870's, also includes an airy wood-paneled lounge with comfortable couches and a wood burning stove, a communal kitchen, the main office and a small store. There is also a massage room, a TV room, and located downstairs is our restaurant, the Philosophy Café. The Lodge is within walking distance of all the pools and also has a large lawn and front porch, perfect for lounging.It also broadcasts free high-speed wireless internet. There is a two night minimum for stays at the Lodge on the weekends and there are also two adorable resident cats inside.

If you opt for a more private space for you and your loved one in your retreat, the private room is the perfect accommodation. Regarded by Native Americans as a sacred healing place for centuries, the quiet and peaceful Sierra Hot Springs is a non-profit retreat and workshop center located at the cusp of an enchanted forest and a beautiful alpine valley in Sierraville.

Guests will find it truly impossible to resist the overwhelming sense of tranquility as the natural spring water is as smooth as silk, making the pools a true experience. Staying with Sierra Hot Springs gives a unique opportunity for relaxation and rejuvenation with its scenic surroundings that will surely allow the guests to completely enjoy their yoga retreat. 

Hosting popular hot springs resorts for almost 150 years, the pools are open 24 hours a day which will give you a truly unlimited experience. The Temple Dome Area is the main pool area which consists of The Hot Pool (105-110 degrees) which is enclosed in a large geodesic dome, featuring stained glass and skylights, and the large Warm Pool (98-100 degrees) is complemented by a large sundeck and a Dry Sauna. There are also seasonal pools, The Meditation Pool (98-100 degrees) a hot pool ideal for enjoying the star studded skies and the Phoenix Baths (85-90 degrees) which houses the newly renovated spa area.

During winter, nearby cross-country skiing is another attraction, and the location is less than one hour from major Tahoe ski resorts. With over 700 acres bordering National Forest land, biking and hiking possibilities are also abound so guests will surely enjoy their stay.


The quiet and peaceful Sierra Hot Springs is located at 521 Campbell Hot Springs Rd., Sierraville, CA. Guests are given the option to choose between the landmark Globe Hotel, the charming dormitory-style Main Lodge, or they can also opt for camping. They are also free to enjoy all of the facilities during their stay.

To arrive at the Sierraville proper, it is suggested that the guests flying into Reno, Sacramento, San Francisco or Oakland airports and rent a car after. They can also arrive at the area through small airplanes at the Sierraville Dearwater Airport.
