City Center Retreat is in the heart of Harrisburg- Pennsylvania’s Capital. This handcrafted house is fully decorated with stained glass windows, wooden floors, fireplaces, along arched entryways. Being tucked away along the banks of the Susquehanna River, life is a lot more beautiful with those magical sunsets and ultimate landscapes.
City Centre Retreat was built back in 1925 by D. Bailey Brandt and is identified in Building Harrisburg, The Architects and Builders 1719-1941 by Ken Frew. The architecture is inspired by the Spanish prototypes architecturally explored in this era. Over many years, the home underwent many transformations, from being separated into 2 homes in the 1940s and serving as the group home in the '80s through the '90s.
Its current owners Chris and Erica, are the third in a line of owners who chose to restore it to an original one-family dwelling, saying "The original structure of the house was built mainly for entertaining. Returning it to the single-family home recreated that ease of movement and wonderful flow."
All four of the guest rooms include the king-sized Westin Heavenly bed. Each bed is ornamented with 400 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton sheets, and four soft, hypo-allergic pillows to ensure your ultimate comfort and relaxation.
All rooms have a 40 inch LCD flat-screen TV, complimentary wireless internet, a home alarm clock, room darkening window treatments, and docking station for your iPhone and iPod, a hairdryer, a closet, a full-length mirror, and an iron or ironing board.
