4-Week 200Hr Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher Training

Summary

Whether you're new to yoga or you've been practicing a while, you are ready for your next step in your yoga journey. That might be to delve deeper into the art of sequencing, understand the philosophy and history of yoga or you may be ready to take the plunge and start teaching others.

Whatever your goals are, this training will guide you on your journey to enable you to become adept in your practice and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to start your own school.

The teacher training is held in a truly paradise location which adds an extra dimension to your yoga practice as a whole. The environment is conducive to relaxing where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle and allow you to focus inwards on your practice and spiritual growth.

The Vikasa Yoga Method is an integral system of yoga based on classical Hatha yoga lineages, with influence from Himalayan Buddhism and Taoism practices. The method is based on universal rules of yoga that ultimately allow the practitioner to develop highly intelligent and mindful practice.

This training starts with a strong physical foundation, evolving into energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual practice. Key principles and rules of yoga are taught, allowing the teachers and dedicated practitioners to gain in-depth understanding, knowledge and insight into the methodology and the effects of yoga practice.

The Vikasa yoga system encourages function within an existing society, rather than against it or apart from it. This allows for deeper connections with the spiritual and physical beings that surround us on a daily basis. When individuality is inspired and oneness within community is celebrated, the teachings become inclusive of infinite possibilities.

The core values of this program are the three ways in which consciousness expands. This expansion starts with the self, it grows through our minds, bodies and energy until we are powerful motivators of connection and manifestors of change through our communities and throughout our world.

The course is structured around various techniques, vastly ranging according to the expertise of the diverse team. They believe in the power of self initiative, self love and personal evolution. The only way to truly have an impact on the world is to start with the impact of our own vibrations.

That is what at the heart of this teacher training program – equipping you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to connect with others and teach the benefits of yoga so that other may experience the transformative effects.

Location

Koh Samui, Thailand

Koh Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, a small tropical oasis with secluded beaches and a pace all of its own. For years now the island has been a central part of the travelling yogi trail.

With yoga centers, health cafes and a large community of teachers and health practitioners, there is a real sense of being amongst tribe.

The weather is great year round although if you don't enjoy the rain then avoid October until the New Year when the monsoon comes through.

There are daily flights operating to Koh Samui Airport from Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and also many flights every day from Bangkok. You can also reach Koh Samui via ferry from the mainland at Surat Thani if you travel to the south by train. The ferry will take around 90 minutes.

Food

During your training you will be served wholesome health-conscious meals in buffet style. Kickstart your day to an amazing brunch. A freshly squeezed juice, tea and coffee, a sunny side up or vegetable omelette, wholegrain toasts, oatmeal/ muesli with yoghurt, or chia seeds pudding, superfoods, boiled veggies with specialty in-house organic dips, vegetarian sandwiches or pancakes, and of course a variety of fresh-cut tropical fruits. Dinner includes a hot soup, typical local dishes with tofu, brown rice, two or three vegetarian dishes, fresh salad, dahl, and always one seafood dish. For dessert there will be a variety of fruits, occasional delectable mango sticky rice or other uniquely Thai savouring.

A homemade signature tea is a perfect finish to your meal. There will also be light snacks during afternoon breaks; however many students prefer to eat out while exploring nearby beaches or famous shopping areas.

Yoga Cave at Vikasa Yoga Retreat

Yoga Cave

Bridging the gap between a hotel room and an authentic Thai experience, the Yoga Caves are small but very comfortable rooms that offer sweeping views over the sea and rocks below. Relax on your comfy bed facing out over the ocean and take in one of the best panoramas on Koh Samui. Sleep, read or meditate in peace.

Modest in terms of size but still to high standards, the air-conditioned Yoga Caves offer a quiet, personal place to stay for individual travelers. The yoga caves do not have bathrooms en-suite. There is a large shared and public restroom and shower facility located just behind the block of Yoga Caves. The showers have hot water and shampoo provided. A bathrobe is provided in each cave for your comfort.
