41 Day 300hr Hatha Vinyasa Teacher Training

The core focus of the program is Ayurveda; India’s very ancient, multi layered, holistic approach to maintaining optimal health and wellness at all stages in life.

The program has been designed to systematically teach, through practical means, how ancient yogic techniques can release energetic blockages, improving health and wellness. 

Through study of pancha mahabhutas, tridosha, the nature of prakriti, practice of purification treatments, advanced practices of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, and mantra alongside deeper studies of yogic philosophy, students will take an intimate journey into the self and will develop a much deeper understanding of ancient yogic practices. 

Whether you’re an existing teacher or simply wish to deepen your practices and learn about yAyurveda as a complete system for ultimate health, this 300 hour yoga teacher training program is a wonderful place for you to begin your exploration.

3 Sattvic healthy meals are included in the training. This area of India is well known for its natural produce and focus on wellness. As the training program is also focused on Ayurveda, meals will follow Ayurvedic principals in order to keep your body, mind and spirit in balance throughout the duration of the course. Rest assured meals will be nourishing, hearty and nutrient-dense to ensure you are well equipped to deal with the demands of the course.

HOURS + TOPICS

Students will have the opportunity to study a variety of styles of asana; from ancient methods used to maintain healthy joint space and optimal flow of prana to more traditional methods, and modern day styles. Styles will include the pawanmukasana series, yin yoga, traditional Indian Hatha, Sivananda yoga, vinyasa flow and ashtanga vinyasa. Students will practice each style for a minimum of 6 classes so they can truly understand and embody the key benefits that each style offers.

Meditation teaches us to stop identifying with the body, the mind, and its ceaseless thoughts so we can reconnect with our authentic self and once again feel bliss. Learn a variety of advanced meditation techniques.

Pranayama is the powerful tool that has been proven to balance, awaken and purify our Pranic Body. In these classes students will dive deeper into pranayama, practicing advanced practices with increased ratios, kumbaya, and bandhas. Students will learn to design sequences based on different requirements, needs, and abilities. They will begin to truly understand the relationship between prana, the nadis, the chakras, bandhas, and the power of incorporating mantra.

Anatomy and physiology will be studied in great detail. Students will study the nervous system, circulatory system, respiratory system, lymphatic system, endocrine system, digestive system, musculo-skeletal system, immune system, the genito-urinary system, and the spine. Students will study the physical effects yoga has on the body, will learn how to avoid injury in more prone areas and how to work with common injuries. Students will not only study the various systems of the body but they will become knowledgeable in principals of anatomy as it relates to yoga asana, pranayama, and movement of vinyasa.

Learn the ancient yogic techniques used to free up and channelize energy which have been used to create a balanced state of mind and body. Study the energetic effects of yoga on the body. Explore prana, the chakra system, the vayus, the Nadis (energy channels within the body) and bandhas (energy locks) and the relationships between emotion and blockages within the Nadis and chakras. Explore how to use this yogic science to remove blockages thus freeing the prana so it can nourish the entire being eventually releasing Kundalini and its infinite potential.

Examine the ancient religious traditions of South Asia, namely Hinduisim, Buddhism and Jainism. Study these traditions from historical, psychological, philosophical, sociological, and contemplative perspectives. Consider the myths, the symbolism, ritual, philosophical and theological formulations and iconography. Explore the discussions of what is yoga, studying some of the earliest sources of yoga, The Uppanishads, Yoga sutra of Patanjali, Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Advaita Vedanta. Discuss bhakti and Tantra, then dive deeper into the subtle body discussing Kundalini and chakras. Eventually end up discussing what we regard as modern day yoga.

Learn the unique features and basic principles of Ayurveda which includes the theory of creation, and the concept of Pancha Mahabhuta, Tridosha, Concept of Body – Mind – Soul, Concept of Sapta Dhatu (Body Elements).Students will also learn about abhyanga (Ayurvedic body Massage) and Shirodhara (oil treatment for head), Kadee vasti (Treatment for Low Back Pain), Greeva vasti (Treatment for Neck discomfort), Janu vasti (Treatment for Knee joint Pain), Ayurvedic Foot Massage, Shiro Abhyanga (Traditional Indian Head Massage), Ayurvedic Face Massage. Study concepts of the Ayurvedic diet based upon season, dosha, and common ailments. Learn about various ayurvedic and panchkarma purification processes and marma points.

These classes will consist of in-depth studies of fundamental hatha yoga postures. We will analyze each posture slowly and in great detail incorporating anatomical aspects, energetic principals, and also discussing and addressing common limitations and misalignments. Great emphasis will be placed on how to create optimal alignment (for each individual body) through use of props and partnering.

In this section students will learn about the art of performing safe and skillful adjustments with confidence, strength, and grace. Students will learn how to adjust others while honoring the Yama’s and respecting physical and emotional boundaries, limits, and capabilities of students.

Students will be introduced to over 10 powerful mantras. Students will learn the mantras in Sanskrit, the relevance and meanings in English, and will practice daily. This will allow the student to experience the power of mantra, how it affects the body, mind, and spirit. Daily practice will also be used as a tool for clearing the energetic channels within the body and generating great peace and happiness within.

LIn this section students will learn about the theory, philosophy, and practice of Yogic Kriyas. Learn about the benefits and contraindications of the various techniques. Be introduced to the dhauti, Basti, neti, tratak, nauli, and kapalabhati techniques. Students will learn how to incorporate the various techniques into their daily lives while attending the program and will also learn how to teach the techniques to others.

Certification

This training is approved by Yoga Alliance. Upon full completion of the course you will become certified at the 300 hour level and be able to register with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT 300 (Registered Yoga Teacher 300hrs) This certification allows you to teach globally.

Suddha Anand Yogshala has relocated and is now located in the heart of North Cliff Beach Area. The new residence is home to their 200 & 300 hour yoga teacher training programs and is located in a peaceful, quiet part of Varkala, yet only 2 minutes’ walk to the beach, restaurants, cafes, shops, and attractions. The property is tucked away in a quiet residential area making it an ideal place for study, practice, meditation, and sadhana.

The shala also offers pranayama, meditation, vinyasa flow intensives, and weekly yoga retreats during select months. These shorter programs are available for those who wish to immerse themselves in the practices of yoga, however, would not like to commit to a month-long program.

The nearest Airport to Varkala is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and it is located approximately 45 KM distance. This is such a charming airport. It is very small with only 3 arrival gates, yet flights connect to many major Indian cities in India and other international destinations such as the middle east. The staff is very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. The airport has a peaceful atmosphere for those travelers arriving from international ports. 

Thiruvananthapuram airport to Varkala by car is a very convenient option for travelers and students. It's a lovely scenic drive which takes only 45 minutes so a pleasure after a long flight. The cost for the drive is only 1500INR and the school will be happy to help arrange a driver for you in advance.
Varkala is also well connected with state buses. A bus journey may take about 1 hour depending on the traffic. You can ask for details at the airport upon a cost-effective also a very cost effective and convenient way to travel to Varkala.
