Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica

With the Pacific Ocean to the west and the emerald waters of the Gulf to the east, the area is shared equally between residents and the wonderful wildlife and nature; the peninsula is a primitive paradise of rain forest, empty beaches, and backwater settlements.

Located on the eastern coast of Osa is this close-knit Tico community of Puerto Jimenez. From Puerto Jiménez, you can explore just about everything there is to offer, even take a ferry across the Gulf to the colourful city of Golfito.

This laidback town is one of the main gateways to the beautiful Corcovado National Park. You can trek your way through the gorgeous and diverse wildlife that the park has to offer. Catch a glimpse of the rare and beautiful Scarlet Macaws as they fly overhead and spot up to 4 different monkey species and many brightly colored birds.

If you like more adventurous activities, hiking, rappelling, mountain biking and kayaking tours are on hand. There is also a lovely remote village of Cabo Matapalo, which is famous in the region for its awesome surf breaks.

To go to Puerto Jimenez, you can take the bus from San José. There is also a small airport in Puerto Jimenez that connects daily to San Jose International airport.

The pool pavilion with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, perfect for a casual meeting or reading a great book. For full relaxation, there is also a full service eco-spa offering locally sourced fruit facials and body scrubs. Massage practitioners offering therapies such as Watsu and Deep Tissue Massage. A Chinese Medicine acupuncturist is also available. Blue Osa also offers a great base for many adventurers alike. Sustainable eco-tours to the rainforest are available, along with hiking, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the beach.

Upon your arrival into San Jose at Juan Santamaria International Airport, you will need to make a connection that will bring you south down to the Osa Peninsula.
