• Yoga & Meditation

Enjoy a period of quiet time in a safe, supportive, naturally scenic and peacefully tranquil home away from home.

Appreciate really great, healthy Sri Lankan food, active, occasionally even adventurous days, and a uniquely restorative spot to relax and unwind without the pressure and hassles of daily life.

The location is wonderfully close to lesser-known temples, lush green tea estates, untouched mountains and secluded villages that dot the shores of the Victoria Lake.

There is plenty to see and do here. The picturesque grounds also offer a vibrant natural yoga space, beautiful pool, and plenty of lovely nooks and crannies to relax with a good book.

The menu shows off wonderful Sri Lankan flavours but also with unique vegan and vegetarian options that don't rely entirely on the 'rice and curry' staple popular to the country.

Delight every one of your senses here as you take in the natural surroundings, feast on wholesome vibrant cuisine and rest deeply in stunning colonial-style accommodations.

Find inner peace, celebrate the joys of simple living, and reconnect with the most healthful, joyous and inspired version of yourself.

Location

Central Province, Sri Lanka

Digana is a village in Sri Lanka. It is located within Central Province. It is between Kandy and Teldeniya and is a very beautiful and still pretty unknown part of Sri Lanka. This part of the country is rich in natural beauty and is also known for its variety of rich and warm cultures it plays host to. Explore temples, lush green tea estates, the untouched mountains of The Knuckles and secluded villages that dot the shores of the Victoria Lake.

These surrounds make for a wonderfully mixed and authentically Sri Lankan experience during your time here. Experience catamaran-fishing on the lake; hiking to the caves of the Bambaragala Temple; and plunge under waterfalls on tea estates in the foothills of the Knuckles. From Colombo, you can take a train, bus, taxi or hire car via Kandy to Digana which takes around 2-3 hours.

Food

On food & drink, the team have been conscious of the need to offer something really special. They’ve also been lucky enough to work with some amazingly talented and creative folks, who've helped them come up with what they think is a pretty unique menu. They’ve focused on showing off wonderful Sri Lankan flavours but also coming up with vegan and vegetarian options that don't rely entirely on the 'rice and curry' staple.
The menus start from a vegan base and build in vegetarian and 'flexitarian' options. The team can add in local, Sri Lankan dishes on request.

Venue   Rukgala
Rukgala, Venue for 5 Night Yoga Retreat at Rural & Tranquil BnB

Rukgala was conceived from a passion and enthusiasm for this very beautiful and still pretty unknown part of Sri Lanka. Out of a crumbly, empty old house the team have fashioned something they hope will make an ideal sanctuary, both for those wanting extended retreat space and those just seeking a shorter escape in the hills.

The goal has been to offer spaces where people can enjoy time together, experience a very honest and open side of Sri Lanka, and from which they can take something not so often found in the tourist guides.

While the focus has been to create something ideal for retreat leaders of all sorts, the team are equally keen to welcome guests traveling independently; those that will appreciate really great, healthy Sri Lankan food...active, occasionally even adventurous, days...and a uniquely restorative spot.
