6 Day Food And Culture, Yoga Luxury Retreat In Italy

Join this annual retreat to Italy's "it list" region of Puglia and spend a week amongst fertile red earth, gnarled olives, turquoise seas, beautiful trulli and some of Italy's best cuisine! You'll enjoy daily yoga, trips to see the sea cliffs, time by the pool, spa treatments, tastings and cultural visits.

You’ll not only balance the week with the healthy delicious meals, but also by learning about and experiencing firsthand the amazing flavors of this region. Each day you’ll be able to enjoy mouth-watering cuisine, as well as take part in tastings from wine to cheeses.

Your day trips will allow you to experience the many unique landscapes and activities that this area has to offer. You will take a tour through Pulgia's famous Trulli white cone-shaped houses in the town of Alberobello, a UNESCO heritage site where the main concentration of these trulli still stand. You’ll enjoy a walk around town and a meal at an award-winning restaurant with a tasting menu + wine pairing. Next, you will visit a unique cheese farm for a tasting in the area before heading to another cultural site.

One day will include a winery visit with a tour and tasting, and yet another day with a visit to one of the area’s most picturesque towns with plenty of photo-worthy vistas and blue waters, followed by an amazing unique meal in a "grotto" overlooking the cliffs by the sea in Polignano al Mare.

You will round out the week with massage treatments and plenty of time to relax at this home-away-from-home, with it’s beautiful pool, walking trails, and more!

Daily meditation and yoga classes will be offered in a way to relax, stimulate, and help you grow in your own personal practice. Classes are open to all levels, beginner to practiced, and can range from gentle, restorative, and more vigorous vinyasa flow and ashtanga styles. Style and class levels will be determined and moulded to fit your needs, and with a small intimate retreat class size, you will be able to get personalized attention and comfortability to deeply explore your practice. Classes are generally held twice daily, one morning class which is more of a general vinyasa flow, and a shorter evening class that is more restorative or themed (such as hip-openers, yoga nidra, yin)

Puglia, Italy

Set on a high fertile plain in the centre of Puglia, the Valle d'Itria stretches from Putignano in the north to Ostuni in the south, its wooded slopes, vineyards and endless olive groves punctuated by the coned roofs of trulli, those unique cylindrical constructions that are peculiar to the area.

The valley in Valle d'Itria's name is not a a typical valley but rather a Karstic depression that runs between Locorotondo, Cisternino and Martina Franca. This geological phenomenon has also created the fascinatingly beautiful caves of Castellana Grotta, which run for about 3km under the north-eastern edge of the Valle d'Itria.

An easy drive in either direction - east or west - will take you to the Adriatic or the Ionian sea, where you can enjoy the long sandy beaches and turquoise waters that contribute to Puglia's great popularity as a holiday destination.

Hotel Ottolire, Venue for 6 Day Food and Culture, Yoga Luxury Retreat in Italy

Located in the Valle d’Itria, which is one of the prettiest areas of Puglia, (the sun-splashed heel of the Italian boot), this villa is surrounded by olive groves, ancient fortified farms and whitewashed towns spilling down the rolling hills towards vineyards and orchards. Outside are terraces encircled by chestnut and olive trees, a pool that’s large enough for laps, and an organic garden where fruit and vegetables are grown for the restaurant. It’s a stylish slice of rural Italian life, a place to savor simple delights: dappled sunlight on your skin, a poolside siesta in the shade of a prickly-pear tree, a glass of local wine at sunset, and the chatter of birds from the hotel’s surrounding estate.
