Location

Veraguas, Panama

Panama’s Pacific Coast was on the New York Times 2019 52 Places to Go list because of its bit of secluded coastline right here in Santa Catalina. Away from the maddening sunburned crowds and minivan tourist buses. Also the departure point for getting to Coiba National Park - declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site thanks to it's pristine, untouched islands and world-class scuba diving and snorkeling.

Here you'll find a new rhythm, dictated by when the waves are good for surfing and the visibility is good for diving, in a place where even the Wi-Fi takes things slow. Restaurant menus depend on what’s been caught that day and everything is just.. quieter.'

Santa Catalina is accessible via a single road from Sona. A local bus runs 6 times a day between Santa Catalina and Sona for a cost of $4.65 and takes around 1.5 hours. Note that this bus may leave within 15 minutes before or after its scheduled departure time, depending of the number of customers. Taking a taxi from Sona is a little faster than the bus, but costs $40.

Food

3 delicious and well-balanced meals each day with local ingredients prepared lovingly by the passionate and creative chefs. You'll also dine at local restaurants in the village to immerse yourself in the rich, colorful and flavorsome cuisine. Enjoy natural fruit juices and smoothies served daily with breakfast and lunch. A range of Argentinean and Chilean wines or local beer for you to savor each evening meal, as well as fruit infused sparkling water, plus freshly brewed local  coffee served daily along with a variety of teas and milks.

All restaurants are open-air and the food is homemade and fresh. Seafood caught daily by the fisherman include red snapper, lobster, tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, crab and jumbo shrimp, all served up in the local restaurants in their own unique and flavorsome way. The team’s favorite is the red snapper ceviche and lobster tacos - incredible! In addition to seafood there's also tasty wood fired pizza, Italian, Argentinean and authentic Panamanian food.
