Along the coast, before arriving in the small and growing town of Dominical, the cascading cliffs converge with the deep-blue ocean, producing a scenic landscape full of small coves for truly precious views. Plantations, estuaries, mangroves and marshes surround the laid-back beach town. The pleasant town of Dominical is relatively small, but offers the beach-lover a wide variety of nearby beaches to choose from. Playa Dominicalito is just south of Dominical and is a great spot for beach goers, beginning surfers and those seeking spiritual journeys.

At Punta Dominical, on the southern end of Playa Dominicalito, you'll see the lush green land merge with the ocean. It is a great spot to watch the ocean's waves crash onto the rocky shore below and see a near perfect sunset almost year round. Other activities include treks to nearby waterfalls including the Nauyaca Waterfalls, canopy tours, horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, sea kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling.

You can easily to get to Dominical from San Jose by bus, car, or a combination of flying and driving/taking a bus. The quickest way to get to Dominical is to take a domestic flight from San José to Quepos, from Quepos you can rent a car and drive south to Dominical along the Costanera Highway. The trip is approximatel 30-minute. Another option is to take a bus from Quepos to Dominical, it’s approximately a 75-minute ride.

The second option is to rent a car in San José and drive to Dominical. The quickest route is to head from San Jose towards Jaco and then continue southward on the Costanera Highway. Dominical is roughly a 3 hour drive from San José. Another option is to head through the mountains towards San Isidro El General, and from there head west towards Dominical. This trip is approximately 4 hours. The third option is to take a bus from San José to Dominical, which is roughly a 6 hour bus ride.

Located in the scenic area of Dominical and nestled at the base of rain-forested mountains on the bank of the Baru River, your haven awaits. Just 45km south of Quepos Airport, Danyasa Eco-Retreat is a yoga resort center, which provides a sanctuary for living artfully in nature.


Explore both the wonders of Costa Rica's abundant nature as well as the wonders of your inner landscape. Connect to your inner rhythm at the Bamboo Yoga Play Studio and feel the brilliant green nature that surrounds you. Known as the heart and soul of the Resort, it is a 1200 square foot studio with open air, netted half walls, bamboo flooring and high ceilings. With a view of the ocean, river and the jungle, you will have a generous amount of natural light and fresh air. Continue your journey from the shala to the ocean and glide freely with the waves on your own surfboards that are at your disposal.

Danyasa Eco-retreat offers an intimate eco-accommodation experience here with ten rooms in total for rent. Rooms qualify as truly eco-friendly because it is created out of beautifully refurbished (up-cycled) cargo containers. The Resort only uses the most eco-friendly soaps, detergents and cleaning products. All rooms have real mattresses, 1500 thread count sheets, air conditioning, wifi and free filtered water. 


You are invited to relax, play, dive into adventure, release your creativity and enjoy a transformation by way of classes, workshops, retreats and trainings. It is a beautiful place to rejuvenate and journey into the wildly unknown.


Getting to the Resort is easy. You can rent a car or shared ride shuttles provide another option getting to Danyasa. Sit back and watch the scenery and leave the driving to the pros. Shared ride shuttles usually leave from the Juan Santamaria International Airport and generally cost around $55 each way. The shuttles take about 3 hours. One can also take a 20 minute airplane flight from San Jose to Quepos and then take a taxi or rent a car to drive the remaining 30 minutes south to Dominical. And lastly, public buses can take you from downtown San Jose right to our doorstep. The buses leave from the TRACOPA bus terminal, and the bus line is called Delio Morales. You will have to buy a ticket to Uvita, but you can get off anywhere. There are two buses each day. Each bus stops briefly at Orotina and Quepos before arriving at Dominical.
