Great emphasis is placed on the importance of food at the retreat. It serves a dual purpose of healthily nourishing the body and mind while also delighting the senses through great taste and variation.
The food philosophy is based on the principle of “Sattva”, a Sanskrit term that means pure and light with a basis of easy to digest.
Your stay, on any program or package, includes a complete offering of food across the delicious healthy buffets. The timing of food on the buffet is designed to support your practice and activity level. Equally, how the food is made and what is in it are vital to your reenergizing of life and how your body gets cleaner, lighter and stronger. Hidden ingredients like oils, salt and sugar, along with bad food combinations, are often the main culprits behind low energy, weight gain, poor digestion, disturbed sleep, and a variety of other maladies.
Complimentary morning coffee and tea are out by 6:45am. Buffet items are available from 8:15am until 1:30pm and again in the evening from 6-8pm. The cuisine caters for a wide variety of diets, displaying all possible allergens, give raw and vegan options while also catering for those who like to eat fish and dairy. Fresh juice daily in our own kitchen for the brunch buffet and offer homemade soy milk, coconut milk, cow milk, brown rice milk, and a homemade electrolyte drink.
The emphasis is on natural ingredients including yoghurt, kefir, soy milk, coconut milk, breads, jams, muesli and breakfast juices all homemade daily. The approach to eating is that food is medicine for the body and food effects not only the body but also the mind. For those that want to eat light and natural, there is a raw food options for all meals.
For those who have completed a detox and want to gradually ease back into normal food, you can customize a meal plan that suits you. The balanced diet will be different for individuals which is why each buffet meal offers a big variety of dishes that contain all the necessary macro and micro nutrients including healthy carbohydrates, essential fatty acids and good quality protein. The majority of meals are vegetarian also with fish and egg as protein options a few times a week.
A coffee, juice and treats bar is also open throughout the day with a range of bulletproof coffee, chai, matcha tea, wheat grass shots, fresh smoothies, homemade chocolates, raw treats, energy balls, and a small A La Carte menu, all available at an additional cost.
