Food

The venue offers conscious cuisine from local and regional produce, inspired by the local culture, but also by what is seasonally available.

The retreat boasts its own organic garden, abundant in fruits, vegetables and herbs, all of which are used both in the gourmet dishes served and in juices, smoothies and therapeutic treatments. Striving for sustainability, the retreat uses its own well, providing guests with some of the purest and freshest water anywhere in the world.

The local community lives off the land, growing a wide abundance of fruit and vegetables, as well as harvesting fresh seafood from the warm, clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Costa Rican cuisine is similar to much of Latin America, with rice, beans and seafood prominent in many dishes, but Costa Rica and, in particular, the Nicoya Peninsula is renowned for a far healthier diet, with fresh fruits and vegetables featuring heavily in the local recipes.

The Nicoya Peninsula is one of only five Blue Zones worldwide - regions in which the local inhabitants live measurably longer, healthier lives - and much of this can be attributed to diet.
