Find the Best 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Europe

There is a lot on offer for you here wherever you may be based. With the amount of schools and teachers dotted all across the different countries in Europe you can easily find the course content that you are looking for.

You decide the way in which you would like to complete your training. You can stay local and commit to a course that runs at a studio near you, or if you have the time you could join a residential course that usually takes place over 2-4 weeks.

Most opt for joining a new group of yogis on a residential learning and personal journey of an intensive training.

The experience is exhilarating, demanding and potentially the most rewarding experience of your life. It affects everything - your yoga, your emotions, vulnerability, personal growth, self-awareness and your attitudes; your mind-body-soul, all three and their connection, even your entire life path in the future. It's an awesome life changing opportunity..

These retreat-style residential programs can be found running in all different settings, from busy cities to the quiet countryside, and the energy of the sea on the beaches of southern Europe.

It must be noted that staying local to where you live by attending a studio run program may be the most affordable option for you because you can still stay at home and have no travel costs too.

Whichever format you go for, you are sure to find something that matches what you are searching for. That's what makes Europe such a great choice, with there being so much available in all the different countries you will be able to find a training that suits your schedule and matches your areas of interest.

Course Curriculum Standards

PLEASE NOTE - Since February 2020 Yoga Alliance set out new standards for the foundational RYS 200-hour training program, here we meet the new common core curriculum that applies to all registered yoga schools for certifying new yoga teachers.

You can review the Yoga Alliance requirements of elevated RYS standards.

To help you understand what the components are and how they contribute to your 200 hours of learning and study we have transposed the key details from the YA website here for you.

Within the Elevated Standards is a shared core curriculum inclusive of lineage, style, and methodology.

This curriculum includes a breakdown of four Educational Categories and 12 competencies — all of

which are tested for integration and application of knowledge.

Competencies -

1. 75 hours on Technique, Training and Practice

Covering Asana, Pranayama & Subtle Body, and Meditation

2. 30 hours on Anatomy & Physiology

Covering Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics

3. 30 hours on Yoga Humanities

Covering the History and background of Yoga, Philosophy of Yoga and Ethics

4. 50 hours on Professional Essentials

Covering Teaching Methodology, Professional Development and Practice Teaching (Practicum)

5. Plus Elective hours which create the specialism focus of each course, creating uniqueness and variety in learning

Under these modernized standards, each RYS assesses the knowledge, skills, and experience of the trainees prior to certification.

Most Popular European Training Destinations

Once you have decided that Europe is the place for you then your choices just get better from there.

First there is a choice to make. There are registered schools running groups and workshops in most of the cities of Europe. From London and Berlin to Barcelona you can join an urban retreat.

This way you get to know a new city and large group of connected yogis at the same time as furthering your yoga practice and yogic lifestyle.

Alternatively there are bespoke retreat centers in idyllic settings which offer the seclusion to completely immerse yourself in the training process.

With the holiday settings of the coastlines of southern europe, to sunny relaxed Mediterranean islands there is everything on offer here.

Spoilt for choice the locations are incredible. Our top pick would be Spain. Although Portugal, Greece and Italy all offer something special and different. From converted monasteries in rolling hillsides to deserted wide beaches.

Wherever you decide to go Europe will not disappoint.

And the choice of courses is just as good as anywhere else in the world.

You can find multi style courses in Hatha Vinyasa or Ashtanga Vinyasa, or focus on just one style that you are most comfortable with such as the Hatha or Vinyasa flow classes.

And you will find all the specialisms available too - there are therapeutic trainings aswell as meditation focused teacher trainings for those who wish to develop these techniques. Plus those with health and well-being in their workshops, teaching healing methodologies, yoga therapy and Ayurvedic practices.
