The energy is ripe for deep growth through yoga and meditation. The Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga offers an authentic training program in the magical hills of Dharamsala. This school carries forth a traditional tantric yogic lineage, and also incorporates new insight and different practices to offer a comprehensive and holistic approach to the ancient art of yoga. The energy of growth and transformation at this school is greatly supported by the spiritually rich area of Dharamsala. 

This 200-hour teacher training is truly a training for teachers. It occurs in an intimate setting with a small group of students, with the intention to produce quality teachers that are fully committed to the work.  Meditation, union, devotion and service this in-depth course will provide a strong foundation and clear techniques for the student of yoga to transform into a teacher of yoga, understanding the value of be a practitioner on and off the mat. As well those who are currently teaching yoga will root themselves deeply in the philosophy and techniques of Kashmir Shaivism Yoga Teacher Training. After completion the students will be empowered to introduce yoga to general public, the holistic way to promote positive health, do posture correctly, prevent diseases and bring harmony and peace to the society.

Included in the rates are tuition fee, teacher training manual, cleansing Tools (Neti Pot and Sutra Neti) for Kriya practice, herbal tea twice at day, and accommodation if you select the fee with this option.

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

Learn the specific yoga asana techniques, postures, therapies, meditations, energetic practices, and profundity of Kashmir Shaivism yoga. This covers analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and guided practice of the techniques themselves. This category includes asanas, preparatory postures (Sukshma Vyayama), suryanamaskara (variations, meaning, approach), meditative asanas and use of props. Special emphasis is given to therapeutic approach to adapt for different conditions as back pain, knee and shoulder, breathing patterns, pranayamas, mudras, kriyas, bandhas, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques from Kashmir Shaivism and lastly, chanting of mantras and Sanskrit.

Get very well acquainted with step-by-step methods and different styles of teaching so that you can make an educated choice about which teaching style resonates most with you. You will have a clear understanding of each style and decide which to follow to continue developing sadhana based in self-awareness, experience and capacity.

Explore the opportunity to practice teaching and leading classes so that you can get familiar with the process and increase your confidence to teach. You will be given opportunities to practice teaching, to receive and givw feedback, to observe others teaching, as well as to assist students while someone else is teaching.

Become more familiar with and aware of human anatomy and physiology, and how to integrate this information to create greater postural alignment within yourself and your future students. Topics included are energy anatomy and physiology (chakras & nadis), Yoga Therapy (healthy movement patterns, prevent lessons, benefits and contraindication). There will also be special workshops and sessions on creative development and various other topics.

Gain a deeper understanding of the ancient and traditional philosophical approach to the sacred art of yoga, and how to apply these teachings to daily living. This course deals with the study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts, such as the Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Yoga lifestyle, such as the precept of non-violence (ahimsa), and the concepts of dharma and karma. Ethics for yoga teachers, such as those involving teacher-student relationships and community, understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others (seva) will also be discussed.

Learn more about the sacred teachings, practices, origins, lineage, and techniques of Shaivism, and how to integrate these principles into your practice and teaching style. Topics to be discussed are kundalini yoga and meditations of Kashmir Shaivism, the Shaivism Tradition, Vedic and Tantric traditions, Sutras of Shaivism (yogic points) sat sang, Tantra ( conceptions and misconceptions), acharyas, and the feminine in Kashmir Shaivism. 

Certification

Upon successful completion of the required curriculum you will receive a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification with the Yoga Alliance. You will be a Registered Yoga Teacher and can begin teaching right away. You must show proficient understanding of educating methodology, including demonstrating postures, observing, assisting and correcting students, and must exhibit the qualities of an excellent yoga teacher with the ability to effectively educate in a loving and caring way.

Self Practice
TIME OFF You will have a solid lunch break each day that will allow you time to rest, digest, and integrate from the practices. There will be times that they group goes on treks and adventures, and you will certainly have some time to enjoy the beautiful mountains and nature trails close by. Dharamshala is a starting point to a number of trekking trails that especially lead trekkers across Dhauladhar into the upper Ravi Valley and Chamba district. En route, you cross through forests of deodar, pine, oak and rhododendron, and pass streams and rivers and wind along vertiginous cliff tracks, and also the occasional lake waterfall and glacier.

The closest airport is Gaggal 15kms away, and there are numerous taxi and bus options to get to the Kashmir Shaivism Yoga Shala. Tell the driver or ask the locals to take you to Henna Cafe in Upper Dharamkot which serves as a landmark near the school.

Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga gives you the complete freedom to create your own dietary experience based on your budget and preferences. There are numerous restaurants and fruit stands close by, and many guesthouses have small kitchens that allow you to create meals for yourself. 

The food of this area is both delicious and nutritious, with many fruits and vegetables to be found. This is an authentic area, and you can be sure that the food is grown locally, with care, and likely without the use of pesticides or chemicals. The Yoga Shala will be offering 2 herbal teas each day as part of the training. You can be assured that the food options will be varied, unique, and incredibly delicious in a traditional and authentic way.

This school looks incredible. I really like the beautiful and secluded location of the Yoga Shala, and love that the main teacher and founder is part of the sacred tantric lineage. It is rare to find a teacher that was born into a particular lineage, and carries that lineage forward with authenticity and also an open and broadened perspective of many different teachings that produce results. The natural land surrounding the school radiates stillness and peace. This looks like a prime location for a transformative yoga teacher training.

Surrounded by tall pines, nature and hidden in the scenic Kangra valley, lies the small town of McLeod Ganj. It is situated on the Dhauladhar Range, whose highest peak, "Hanuman Ka Tibba", at about 18,500ft, majestically rises behind it.

The spiritually vibrant atmosphere is also the residence of His Holiness - the 14th Dalai Lama and the site of the Tibetan exile community's main temple. In a place where India meets Tibet, you will find Tibetan handicrafts, Thangkas, Tibetan carpets, garments and other souvenirs dotted throughout the town. McLeod Ganj, is one of the most irresistible destinations and offers courses in Buddhism, meditation, yoga and great starting points for some exhilarating treks into the Himalayas.

There are two daily flights from Delhi to Gaggal, a town near to McLeod Ganj. From Gaggal Airport, it is about 20 kilometres to McLeod Ganj, and takes about 45 minutes by taxi. There are more than ten trains running daily from Delhi to Pathankot. Train tickets can be booked online at Indian railways website. There are also many buses from Delhi to McLeod Ganj every day, or it is possible to take a taxi. Make sure the bus is going all the way to McLeod Ganj, as some buses have a last stop at Dharamshala, from where McLeod Ganj is another half hour bus ride, or take an easily-available taxi.
