You will learn, practice, and develop your asana, pranayama and kriya techniques and you will then practice teaching them to your peers.

This section will introduce you to yoga psychology and philosophy through discussions on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, chapters one and two. Trainers will present sutras, and also use pair work and group work discussions to give you the opportunity to explore how these sutras relate to their practice, and how they live their lives.

Practical teaching methodology includes how to demonstrate, observe, cue and assist students.

You will be learning both about the physical system and the subtle body.

In the first half of the program, you will be gradually introduced to teaching by teaching peers each pose or mini sequence in the Techniques class. This will progress towards teaching one pose or mini sequence to the whole group ‘Group Teaching’. In the second half of the course, you will each teach two classes to a peer. Each class will be 90 minutes long. They will then get 15 minutes of feedback from their peers and from the trainer.

Venue   The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a laid-back, alternative holiday and wellness resort set just where the beach meets the jungle on a magical corner of Koh Phangan. People from around the world come here to unwind, relax and enjoy the wide range of yoga, detox and healing therapies and programs on offer. On site is a range of accommodation options from dorm rooms to simple bungalows to open-air houses to air conditioned villas. There are three yoga shalas, a beautiful spa, a wellness and cleansing center, colonics, steam room and a wonderful restaurant that offers delicious vegetarian cuisine and hosts a range of evenings including open-mic night, movie nights and special events.

The most direct way to get Ko Phangan is to fly from Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur to Koh Samui with Bangkok Air. The Sanctuary can arrange a private speedboat to or from the airport directly to the beach.

Alternatively, catch the ferry boats. Ferries leave from Big Buddha Pier on Koh Samui and arrive at Haad Rin on Koh Phangan. Simply take a ten minute longtail boat ride from Haad Rin around to Haad Tien. Getting to The Sanctuary can be part of the adventure- but always worthwhile!

Nestled in the quartz-granite rocks of Haad Tien bay and overlooking the spectacular azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand, the Sanctuary Restaurant offers a wide range of cuisine, from western favorites to classic Thai dishes and a full, raw vegan menu. The meat-free menu offers seafood and an extensive vegetarian range, with many dishes able to be adapted to vegan upon request.
The fully raw menu allows you to undertake a cleanse of your own, and the venue’s Wellness Centre can offer advice, supplements and even a full detox, ranging from three to 21 days (though this is not recommended when undertaking a physically taxing teacher training).
Throughout the day, soft drinks, fresh coconut and a range of raw vegan and cooked desserts and snacks are available, and the full bar is a hub of activity at night, featuring movie nights and open-mic evenings throughout the week.

Take your body, mind and soul on a journey that is sure to change you forever.  This yoga teacher training offers an incredible road to self discovery in a setting that dreams are made of.  Wonder the maze like grounds and gaze upon unforgettable moonlight dances that reflect off the private bay in tropical paradise.
