500Hr Vikasa Advanced Yoga Teacher Training

The experienced and passionate team at Vikasa offer you the chance to dive deeply into their advanced, 500hr Yoga Teacher Training that will deepen and strengthen your self-practice whilst expanding on your wisdom and inherent knowledge to take your teaching and yoga journey to new dramatic levels. The six week course consists of three modules, which are 100 hours each, or two weeks in duration. Trainees can obtain an RYT-500 certification approved by Yoga Alliance upon successful completion of the course.

Module 1 will focus on the art of sequencing. You will deepen the practice of your asanas and shatkarma kriyas, as proposed by the ancient texts of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and practices in the current environment. Module 2 will focus on the energy body where you will explore prana and life force energy, and how to control and manipulate the prana to preserve it in your life. Module 3 will focus on the soul and spirit. It will focus on the processes of attention and concentration to reach the state of meditation and finally of samadhi, the ultimate state of bliss. 

This teacher training will involve two practices per day with a strong emphasis on asana. The focus of this training is to understand correct sequencing and effects of sequences on different aspects of your body, and how to correctly distribute the energy within the body through correct asana practice. You will need to perfect your sequencing abilities and create unique sequences based on the principles of energetic balancing learned in the first part of the course. You will be given all the tools you need to accomplish this and also a chance to practice your sequences later in self-practice classes and also in some teaching sessions. 

The teacher training includes your course fee, meals, materials, graduation ceremony, access to Vikasa Yoga retreat facilities, certification, airport transfers, and accommodations shall you choose to stay with Vikasa.

Vikasa is located on the island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. The exquisite natural beauty offers you a unique experience with its palm-fringe shoreline and virgin rainforests. On this scenic island, you will have the opportunity to find balance and embark on a journey to self-discovery.


The course is recommended for those who have already successfully completed a foundation teacher training course. The completed foundation does not have to be from Vikasa, it can be from another yoga school. On a physical level, ability to sit still comfortably for at least 30 minutes is required. Full padmasana or lotus pose is recommended, and so is headstand, however do not worry if you cannot do them, they might just open up to you during the course. Students should be able to hold chaturanga dandasana for at least 30 seconds (for ladies with support of knees on the floor). Ability to perform the foundation series of Vikasa Yoga.

In this session, you will deepen your practice of asanas and shatkarma kriyas, as proposed by the ancient texts of Hatha Yoga Pradipika and practices in the current environment. The training will focus specifically on the proper sequencing of asanas, and achieving a balanced distribution of energy within your physical body as a result of correct sequencing of asanas in your yoga practice.

In the second session you will explore the meaning of prana, the lifeforce energy, and how to control and manipulate the prana to preserve it in your life keeping this energy in balance. From understanding the breathing mechanics, you can experience the main techniques of pranayama and bandhas as taught by the ancient texts and yogis, preparing the respiratory channels with proper kriyas, training the body to let prana flow in full balance that will still the mind for meditation.

The third session will focus on the processes of attention and concentration to reach the state of meditation and finally of samadhi, the ultimate bliss. Different techniques will be proposed an explored: focusing on the breathe, an object, a mantra or silence students will be gradually able to improve the concentration abilities and to train the mind into stillness. Mudras will be used to stimulate different parts of the body involved with breathing and to affect the flow of prana in the body.


You must be fully committed to 100% of course attendance. Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Yoga Alliance approved 300 hour yoga teacher certification. Trainees can obtain an RYT-500 certification upon successful completion of the course. In order to obtain the RYT-500 certificate, trainees are required to complete all three modules, or five weeks of training.

Lined for nearly its entire length by hotels and guesthouses, this is, after Chaweng, Samui's most developed beach. You'll see clutches of deckchairs and umbrellas at regular intervals for its entire length. Southeast facing, Lamai's sunrise can be pretty dazzling.

Lamai is on Samui's Southeast coast and is the island's second largest district after the popular tourist area- Chaweng. The area offers similar fare to that of Chaweng, but is much more low key and affordable. It is also conveniently located with many restaurants, hotels, beach, shops and viewpoints nearby. You can get around by foot, car, taxi and bus. With the general laid-back atmosphere, Lamai is suitable for all types of travellers, The beach offers the best sunset views on Koh Samui Island - enjoy a cocktail or coconut while watching the golden red sun set on the horizon. Lamai's walking street market is hosted on Sunday evenings along the road between the fresh market and the bridge. As with Samui's other walking street markets, this one offers good, cheap street food, cocktails, clothing stalls and music. Coco Splash, Samui's only water park, is located in Lamai back off the beach towards the northern end of the village.

There are daily flights operating to Koh Samui International Airport. The airport is around a 20 minute taxi drive away from Lamai. You can also reach Koh Samui via ferry from the mainland port at Surat Thani. The ferry will take around 90 minutes.
