This page explains how Yovada researches and publishes its statistics, market reports, guides and comparisons. In short: we use the original source wherever we can, we check every figure before it goes live, we publish the criteria behind every comparison, and we keep commercial relationships out of our rankings.
What we publish
- Statistics: sourced, dated figures on the wellness economy and its markets.
- Market reports: category, country and consumer-trend analysis, built from published data.
- Best & comparisons: editorial guides built from criteria we publish on each page.
- Guides: practical, sourced guides to yoga, sleep, wellness travel and more.
The same standards apply to all of them, and to the research we carry out for brands.
How we choose sources
We prefer primary sources: the organisation that collected the data or carried out the study. Typical primary sources include research institutes, industry associations, government statistics offices, peer-reviewed studies and company reports.
When a figure is only available through a secondary source, such as a news article reporting on a study, we try to trace it back to the original. If we cannot, we name the source we used, or we leave the figure out.
Every statistic on Yovada links to where it came from, and each research page lists its sources in full.
How we check figures
Before a figure is published, we check it against the original publication. We also:
- quote each figure with its year, unit and currency, exactly as the source reports it;
- avoid rounding that changes the meaning of a number, and never mix currencies or years in one comparison;
- mark forecasts clearly, for example “2029F”;
- show both figures, and name each source, when two reliable sources disagree;
- never invent or estimate a number ourselves. If a figure cannot be verified, we do not publish it.
How we build comparisons
Each Best & comparison guide explains how it was built and which criteria were used, such as programme depth, teaching quality, price and inclusions, or location. Every option in a guide is assessed against the same criteria.
- Facts come from the provider. Details such as prices, programme length, schedules and inclusions are checked against each provider’s official website. If a detail is not published, we say so rather than guess.
- Rankings and shortlists are labelled. A ranked guide shows an editorial order. A shortlist shows options we recommend, without ranking them against each other.
- Guides under review are labelled. A guide that has not completed editorial review is clearly marked as a draft.
Independence and commercial relationships
Our editorial rankings are not for sale. Brands cannot pay to appear in a ranking or to change their position in one.
- Sponsored placements are always labelled as sponsored and sit outside the editorial ranking.
- Affiliate links: some links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy or book through them, at no extra cost to you. Commission never affects what we recommend or how we rank it.
- Services for brands: we offer research and visibility services to wellness brands. That work never decides what we publish in our editorial content or how we rank.
Health information
Our guides and research are general information about wellness markets, products and experiences. They are not medical advice. Please speak to a doctor or another qualified professional before starting a new treatment, supplement, diet or exercise programme. You can read more in our Terms & Conditions.
Updates
Every page shows the date it was last updated. We review our pages regularly and update figures when a source publishes new data. For comparisons, we re-check prices and schedules, because these change often.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page. We review every report. If something is wrong, we correct it and note the correction on the page where it occurred.
